tick tock history clock

November 8th, 2008

History Clock are a new London based label, the lovechild of Nathan Gregory Wilkins and Jonny Burnip, both producers/promoters etc. October saw the release of their third 12″, the glorious vintage disco stylings of ‘Woman’ – a ‘repossession’ (for repossession see extended/extensive re-edit) by It’s A Fine Line. The labels’ vibe is a new take on old sounds – a post-vintage exposition of grooves that get under your skin.

Posted is a Mediafire link. This is an enormous file, 9 minutes ripped from the vinyl for your delectation, so it would otherwise clog up our often useless server. But I couldn’t not give you this. Immaculate rhythmic clacks eventually give way to a whole other track within a track, an adoring major to utilitarian minor beats; retaining a decidedly modern groove but spunking a funky 70s disco romp all over the reverb curve of pert beats.

Also spectacular is the jumped up electronic ejaculations of the Fitzcarraldo Variations’ ‘Gamma Model’, posted a short time ago by 20JazzFunkGreats. Mmmmmmm…..

Also worth more than a mention, is that they got Susumu Mukai, a.k.a Zongamin, to design the sleeves. They are like a Sainsbury’s Taste The Difference 12″ sleeve in comparison to most single sleeves.

Buy It.
>>stockists on the right – rough trade, phonica. boom.
